Seriously, I should. I was promised a robot. And a flying car. And a transporter. Though now that I think about it, I’m not sure why I would need a flying car AND a transporter. Never mind. Let’s not get off topic. The point is I was promised a robot.
Movies and tv, they promised what the future would be like. I mean the iPad looks cool and all, but I was hoping the future would look more like this.
I want a spaceship. A real one. And a warp drive. I wanted a future with the possibility of getting all makey outy with people from other planets. Let’s admit it, that’s half the allure of Star Trek.
I want a TARDIS. Yeah, sure, I’m biased by my geek sensibilities, and you know how I feel about the Doctor, but has there ever been a cooler ride than that blue police box?
You know, the Doctor had a robot--a dog robot, but still, better than I got.

oh wow, you just revealed to me what my subconscious mind knew all along but I never admitted to myself. about, you know, star trek and all. I knew everyone wanted to do spock but...yeah....
It's about time, isn't it? Back in the fifties, I would have sworn that by 2010 we'd all be enjoying a full life in space, crews of bots at our disposal.
I just want one of those Rumba vacuum cleaners. They're cute as heck...and that's a Luddite talking!
Have you seen the _new_ Doctor yet?
SLightly odd looking but still super cool, clever and whitty.
And, his new companion is in-your-face-girl, refusing to turn her back whilst he stripped ;)
Looks to be an interesting start...
Tina, I've only seen a teeny tiny little bit with the new doctor, but I think he'll grow on me. I wasn't sure about David either, when he took over.
WHERE IS MY JETPACK? I wonder every day.
When I was in the fourth grade I did a current events presentation about the new 747 and L-1011 jumbo jets that were the newest thing. I swear the last British Airways 747s I was on must have started service way back then, what with the malfunctioning air conditioning and being dripped on from above during landing. I fully expected that by now we'd be traveling in some sort of passenger space shuttle that could go from Washington to Tokyo in two hours.
This time of year, I have to appreciate TurboTax and the like. That might almost be better than a jetpack or a flying car.
Okay, maybe not. :)
I don't wanna be a buzz kill but I think that Wall-E and Duane, the two robots that live at Adrienne's parent's house, would have something to say about this no robots claim. It's just not true. And now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go console a very un-acknowledged Roomba.
