To write!!!!!
After all, it's not gonna write itself. And the writing elves are not gonna do it for me either.
Time to do it.
Maintain am organized approach to grad school rather than the creeping chaos/huge cleaning day cycle :)
Spend more QUALITY time with my kids, instead of spending soo much time trying to make my house and everything in it perfect!
To stop smoking and not get so aggravated when things don't go "my" way"!
Not to allow outside interference when achieving my goals.
I have a bad habit of letting the world dictate my personal out come of goals.
oops sorry i didn't report in - as a matter of fact, i already wrote a blog post of my own about my resolutions, here:
http://www.sophielittlefield.blogspot.com/2012/01/i-resolve-oh-hell-yes-i-do.html
To volunteer more. Just quit working and just feel like I need to do something constructive (don't want to get rotten).
To volunteer more. Just quit working and just feel like I need to do something constructive (don't want to get rotten).
To resolve fresh every day to a daily commitment of writing and exercise.
I have to ditto Lisa on this one: to be more social.
Of course, I also have a *write more* resolution, so I'm really hoping those two don't conflict!
I resolved to get up and move more, whether that be spinning at the gym or walking with my dogs. This writerly business is chaining my expanding ass to the chair and I could use more balance.
I resolved to create a more peaceful world for myself - doing things for me, worrying about work less, playing with my kids more, giving a helping hand to those who need it...
And to read more. :)
To do one girly thing a day. Stuff other women do everyday that I just don't think about. Like moisturizing, painting my toenails, washing my face before bed. Really a little self-care is my resolution this year.
My resolutions is to live bolder and braver!
Oh, I have a ton. Listen to more music at home (I tend to either put on an audiobook or have it quiet when I'm home and save the music for my ipod when I'm walking around). Have people over more (I've declared 2012 The Year of Game Nights). Take a vitamin every day (my only "improving" resolution). Move out of my comfort zone when it comes to embroidery and crochet. More champagne!
to have a great semester!
to have courage in the face of the unknown and not allow anyone to make me feel bad about myself.
Jeri Hoag, Buena Park CA
To eat healthier and cut out the junk foods.
I resolved to keep an actual list of the books I've read - which I've never done before. It will be interesting to see a number rather than just think "I read a lot"... :)
This is a resolution I think I can actually follow through with, compared to all the failed 'lose weight' resolutions I've made over the years...
to read more now that i can see :}
Julie
Highest on my list is a mindful purpose to MAKE. Every day. Spin, knit, bake, cook, write - whatever it is. To spend time actively making every single day in 2012.
The time has come, the walrus said to format two novels as ebooks for Kindle et al and publish them. I'm so gonna rock this in 2012!
(I *love* these resolutions!)
Looks like 2012 is the year I'm going to become a grandmother so I'm resolving to stay young and healthy and adventurous in order to enjoy a brand new generation.
grace in chilly canada
To make a dent in my "to read" stack, to be more faithful to my healthy eating, clear a bit of clutter that has began to fill a few spots, work more on my handmade cards, and check out a few more supposedly haunted locations! :)
To add more to the lives of others by sharing my joy and passion for reading. Working at Barnes & Noble is an absolute joy and I love sharing my passion with my customers!
To be more positive.
Take better care of the physical me: eat better, move more...
I did a blog on the whole thing, but... in a nutshell... I'm doing "Change Write Now" this year. I had planned on avoiding resolutions, but this just came up.
A bunch of writers and readers broken into teams to keep each other on a track to change to a healthier lifestyle.
64oz of water a day
shifting caloric intake relating to -2lbs a week
healthier foods including mostly homemade stuff
write every day
stay within my monthly book budget
Get published.
Yeah... that's about it.
Regular sleep, regular yoga and a humane writing schedule.
I make promises to try instead of resolutions... because even if I 'fail', I still 'win' because I tried and that's the hardest part. Mine for this year are to get up and move more, learn 4 new knitting techniques, learn patience and get organized.
I resolve to ask for what I want.
I turned a life corner in 2011 and introduced fitness to my life. Now I'm still a morbidly obese computer/knitting geek but I want to change that. So my goal for 2012 is to be able to complete a 10-count Thai kick drill* in 10 minutes. These are super hard and I see very fit people struggle with them so I might as well be saying I want to run a marathon (that is next year's goal).
*A Thai kick drill is when you do 1 round kick for number 1, 2 round kicks for #2, 3 kicks for #3 and up to #10 which is 10 kicks. Then you work your way down again with 9 kicks, 8 kicks, etc. It is over 100 kicks. Then you do the other leg. Then you throw up or pass out. Whichever comes first.
To Write, To eat more fruits and veggies, To send more "just thinking of you" type cards to family and friends throughout the year, and To learn to surf this summer! Happy New Year!
My resolutions are to go outside in the sun more. And do Zumba on the Wii. Both make me happy on days when I'm not.
I will write for myself at least an hour a week, I will remember the @&$&$ reusable shopping bags, and I will recycle every plastic shopping bag I can find this year.
I have so many resolutions this year! Lose weight, organize and work on our finances, start a blog, work on vehicles, etc. I resolve to get things done this year!
Eating more fruits and veggies! And writing everyday!! Great intentions for 2012!
What a fabulous bunch of resolutions! I think I might have to borrow a few of them. Like being a bad ass. Yeah. Thank you, Kirsten!
Before I read that, I was just going to resolve to write every day again this year. But I think I can work in being a bad ass, too.
My resolution is to stop getting sucked into or perpetuating negativity at work. I spend more time at work than I do at home, so this year's resolution is geared to bring more happiness to my life.
I have a few! Excersice m/w/f then journal/read bettering books the rest of the days. (parenting books mainly). Stock bending over to pick up the kids crap and start squatting down instead. I'm tired of my back hurting. Then I have a bunch of business ones! xoxo
I stopped making actual resolutions a few years ago because I never stick to them which feels bad, and they were always things I didn't enjoy doing anyway. But last year I started making goals - just year-long things I'd like to do. Last year it was my own personal sock knitting club, and this year it's a Bottled Rainbows Quilt.
I resolve to hug and kiss my sons everyday. They are wonderful boys inspite of the smell and the mess they bring into my life! And TBH I forgot this in 2011.
Mine sounds simple, because it's based on a Word of the Year, but the undertones of the word bring up a minefield of sub-resolutions that are likely to emerge throughout the year. The word?
SELF-RELIANCE.
That's it. I resolve to become less dependent on others for anything from emotional support to financial assistance to task-delegation (because it rarely seems to get done), and to become more self-reliant in all areas. Though it sounds like a positive word, I have the feeling in some areas, this could get scary...
I don't do resolutions, but I've been thinking a lot lately about balance. Definitely need more balance in my life. Just need to figure out how...
Go to the Bahamas, do a really good job with my writing, keep giving all my emails subjects.
I would like to do a tarot draw for myself each week, and knit more. Knit A LOT more. It helps keep me sane and grounded, and I forget to do it when I'm...not sane and grounded.
I will exercise more, eat better, and remember to write.
My life quest is to bring more civility to my life and those around me so I say "please" and "thank you" to drive-through voices and people who help me or wait on me in stores. Some of them are so shocked they actually say "you're welcome."
To do more with what I already have.
I would like to read more! To make it to 50 books for the year would be great. It would be helpful in accomplishing this goal if I had a Kindle, so that it would be easier to take my collection of books with me wherever I go. =)
Thanks for the contest!

I finally have to put my intention into the structure of language? I am paying attention to all my inner dialogue of panic and fear, the stories and worries I am streaming...you know what I mean, right? I am trying to stop and face them and say, well what if that did happen, then what? What is the worse that could happen. I am reminding myself that it always works out. Things get better, they get worse, they get crazier, they get saner, but so far nothing has been as bad as my panic button has alerted me to. Time to stop living under the cast of doom!
I am trying to live joyfully in each moment, freeing myself from overambitious daily to-do lists that made me want to stay in bed all day rather than face them. Happy new Year to all of you!

What a nice surprise this morning, to wake up and and find a Kindle contest on your blog. =) My resolution for the new year is... I want to improve my computer skills in a few areas. I'm trying to understand Photoshop, and attempting to work with HTML. By the end of the year, I'd like to be MUCH more acquainted with these 2 things. LOL!

Resolution- to allow myself time for myself. (always put others first) But my exercise and health need their time and place too.
My resolution is to get much of my writing up for sale, an insane amount, to push me to produce a lot, with a 2012 Challenge: http://www.daletphillips.com/challenge.html
My resolution is to MOVE! Move my body and move my crafting career forward.
Finish my cruise ship mystery "Grave Indulgence," and get chummy with the cast of "The Jersey Shore."

I intend to try to become more healthy, especially by changing my diet to include more healthy items and less unhealthy ones. I've had some stomach pain due to certain food types (spicy, citrus, cheeses, oats, chocolate, and a few more), and I have to change my diet. It also wouldn't hurt to lose some weight.
To be honest and be on time.
Here are my resolutions:
1. Take control of my finances.
2. Knit more!
3. Knit a sweater (I never have).
4. Read at least 20 minutes of a "self-improving" type book each day.
5. Read more!
6. Pack my lunch more often.
7. Eat healthier.
8. Cook more often (this goes along with #7).
My goal for the entire year is to keep my house clean. So far I've been able to organize or clean out an area in my house every single day for the year. I hope to keep doing this until I really do have a clean house!
Thank for the chance to win a Kindle!

My resolution for this year is to not stress as much. I'm one of those people that takes the weight of the world upon my shoulders and ends up in charge of everything, so my goal is to relax about it all instead of getting wound up.
Amazing contest!! You girls sure do know what to give away to make a booklover's heart flutter. My resolution for the year: READ MORE BOOKS. (That's it.) I would like to accomplish reading more than I did this past year, which wasn't very much. Still, in the very true words of Thomas Jefferson: "I cannot live without books."
My resolutions for this year: be kinder. Remember to smile. Read at least 52 books. Try at least 52 new recipes.
My resolution for the year is to take better care of myself. Yes, that includes eating better, exercising more, and getting more sleep. But it also means really listening to myself and being kinder. So if what I really need is ice cream for breakfast or new Fluevogs, then that is what I need.
A friend sent me to your blog. I'd love to win a Kindle! I've been wanting to get one for a while! My goal for 2012 is to keep a clean house, find some new recipes for family meals, and read books a little more.
in 2012 I would like to run another half-marathon, learn more about wine and blog more regularly. Writing is good for the soul!
I never make new years resolutions. Is this so I can't judge myself or just lazyiness.
My resolutions for this year will be to finish some of my unfinished projects - spinning, crochet, sewing. Also, I started a small business carving my own crochet hooks, shawl pins and so forth out of local fallen woods, so I resolve to make a success out of that! ;) At least make a little money to sponsor yet more crafting projects...LOL
(oops....my contact would be craftwich68 at yahoo dot com, sorry)
To finish my novel (GASPS CAN THIS REALLY BE DONE?!?!?) And to wear skirts as often as possible in an effort to be more feminine and more modest.
To be happy with my body, if that means exercising to keep it in shape, eating better to keep myself healty or just reveling in the fact that I'm a curvy, jiggly lady, just to be happy and love it :)
I am trying to be a better person to myself and to allow myself to relax and not to stress out about so much that goes on in my life.

After moving to a new city, I am excited about making new friends in 2012. I hope to re-establish my fitness routine and eat healthy every day!
