Note from Gigi, who is writing about Adrienne today: She was wearing a pair of Converse Allstars while writing this post so that she could get properly into the mindset to do Adrienne justice. I met Adrienne only in 2009, but as I look back over the photos I've taken of the Pens over the past year-and-a-half, Adrienne is at the forefront of many of them. She didn't jump in front of the camera, but rather her dynamic spirit led me to want to capture her character.
The first thing you might notice upon meeting Adrienne, after her welcoming smile, is her shoes. I don't mean anything fancy. I mean the fact that Adrienne effortlessly pulls off Converse Allstars with whatever she happens to be wearing.
I think the cool, comfortable shoes are part of Adrienne's life plan -- the one that allows her to be fearless.
I've been wowed by the fearlessness of this woman many times. Whatever life has thrown her way lately, I've seen her seize the opportunity to throw herself into her writing, then let go with some good scotch with her friends -- all the while never forgetting the important things in life.
I'm looking forward to many more years of merriment from Adrienne, both in life and on the page.

Gigi you know how much i love your photography, and those pix of A are among your best. You really captured her spirit! I think A is the kind of "quiet tough" that could and can and will do anything. Nobody's going to keep our girl down, and that's a good thing. And how about that laugh?
Having known Adrienne intimately since 1996 I feel the need to chime in here and say that though she is undeniably a fearless, converse wearing writer, there’s much more to her than that. To me she is the one in a billion perfect match that I will spend my life being grateful I found. And that she found me. And agreed to marry me. What luck!
Simply put Adrienne is passionately loving, fiercely loyal, irresistibly sexy, wildly smart, crazy funny, endlessly caring, infinitely understanding, wickedly clever and simply the best.

Adrienne *does* appear fearless. Which probably means she's scared to death half the time. But true courage is rising above the fear, laughing in its face, swinging your head in a jaunty "come 'n get me" pose, and taking it on, head on. Adrienne seems to personify that attitude, doesn't she?
Oh, and can't wait for our next outing, Adrienne...*wink wink*. Such FUN we'll be having in the years to come!

I wish I knew what Adrienne is saying in that picture with Rachael! She is ALWAYS saying something hilarious, that's for sure. And I think Heart and Sole is the perfect way to describe her. :)

I wish I was half as fearless as you make me out to be Gigi. And I do love my Converse. They're not my armor though, more like my version of Linus's security blanket. ;-)

The next thing you'll be telling me is that the written word doesn't just pour out of Juliet and Sophie when they sit down at the computer, and that cheerful little birds don't wake up Rachael when she has to get up before sunrise...
